Semantic Aggregation And Hive Intelligence
Matt Williamson
The next iteration of the World Wide Web is, as always, on my mind. I wrote about the future of semantic search in my last post, Semantic Search Goes To Work, and since then I have been reading about little else. How will we collect and categorize information?

Loud3r: aggregated topical news channels
Not everyone can adjust or tolerate high information intakes. even i got burned by the amounts of information i get to consume every day. but it is certainly not for everyone. now that information is a commodity and is even live and everywhere thanks to blogs and microblogging. this causes a glut. too much information about a endless myriad of themes. solutions to filter it out are the things that can also be seen as a staple of 2008.

LOUD3R Launches Massive Semantically-Driven Network
A new network debuting today, called LOUD3R, hopes to leverage this automation and social prioritization of stories, through a vast network of sites, including 25 at launch today, each one of them utilizing a semantic publishing engine, which finds, clusters and ranks content for a number of vertical topics, ranging from technology to sports, fashion to business.

Loud3r Launches popURLs Competitor
At a glance, Loud3r appears to be yet another version of popURLs or Alltop, just with a lot more verticals right off the bat. Dig a little deeper (you don't have to dig very far) and you'll see that one major differentiating factor for loud3r is that it's also a social network.

Loud3r: What the world needs is a lot more news aggregators
What if there was a news aggregator specifically geared to your favorite topic - a site like automated news aggregator Techmeme, only tailored to what you care about. That's the basic premise of a company called Loud3r, which is launching niche news aggregator sites for a wide range of categories, from venture capital to movies to TV to sports.

Content aggregator Loud3r launches network of sites
Loud3r, a start-up content aggregator that we saw present at the Under the Radar conference earlier this month, officially launched its network of content sites Tuesday morning. The launch includes 25 focused sites, all of which share the "3r" branding. In addition to more mainstream-sounding New3r (which covers gadgets and tech) and Glitt3r (fashion), the company's portfolio includes sites focused on enthusiast niches, such as sneakers (Sneak3r), skateboarding (Grind3r ), and martial arts (Fight3r ).

Good content is hard to find. Leave the dirty work to LOUD3R.
A quick Google search for LOUD3R brings up lots of results because LOUD3R runs more than 25 websites. Yes I said 25. But if you click on the "News" link from that Google search you'll notice that it's only got a few stories, mostly from bloggers (not that there's anything wrong with that, some of my best friends are bloggers) and here's why. LOUD3R just launched today but it's hard to tell. Usually you have all sorts of craziness that happens when a startup comes out of the gate but the LOUD3R network of sites have a fit & finish on them that makes me feel like they a) work, b) are credible and c) are really nice.

Loud3r Launches
HereÕs a very cool concept for a site that can generate a ton of equity value vs. the effort put into building it. I actually know that Lowell has put a lot of energy into building out Loud3r, and it shows, but compared to what DWave is trying to do, itÕs no huge technical accomplishment. It just works.

Loud3r Aggregation Network Launches - It's Kinda Like Original Signal But Without the Sizzle
Out today is a new network of sites that use a scoring model and a social network. The name of the network is Loud3r (I guess pronounced Louder?) and is a collection of sites (currently 25 with a goal to launch over 500) including sites about dogs, cats, Web 2.0, celebrities, cars, etc. Each content type has its own "3R" site. For example, Found3r = venture capital, News3r = tech news, Putt3r = golf. It's important to note that this Loud3r network is a content aggregation network and not a user-generated content network.

Aggregators Are Around Us, Will Proliferate

A new entrant (at least new to me) to the aggregation game is Loud3r. They have created aggregators to handle such diverse topics as sneakers, dogs and motorcycle roadracing. The most interesting to me are Found3r (about venture capital) and Buzz3r (about internet business & technology). These sites do not quite get to the same level as Techmeme, but they produce somewhat different results, which is always welcome. And I also like that they reveal the score they give to each story and how it is counted from three variables: quality, community and buzz.
